Enable System Extensions on M1/M2/M3/M4 Mac
How do I enable System (Kernel) Extensions on M1/M2/M3/M4 Macs for Samsung Magician?
When installing a third-party program or extension, you may receive the "Systems Extensions Blocked/Updated" error on your Apple Silicon Mac. Then you follow the onscreen instructions to bypass the block for system extensions on your Mac, only to find that another error window pops up saying "To enable system extensions, you need to modify your security settings in the recovery environment".
- Check the processor in the Apple menu > About This Mac to see if you have an Apple Silicon chip on your Mac such as M1, M2, M3, or M4.
- In the Apple menu, go to System Settings or System Preferences. Once you are in System Settings, select Privacy & Security and Scroll down to find the Security section and select Allow applications downloaded from App Store and identified developers.
- Click Enable System Extensions. - If you do not see "Enable System Extensions" Skip to Step 5. on the Guide.

4. When the pop-up shows "To enable system extensions, you need to modify your security settings in the Recovery environment", click the Shutdown button to turn off your Mac.

5. When your Mac is completely off, press and hold the power switch (Touch ID) until it says "Loading up startup options".
6. Click Options and then click Continue to boot the M1, M2, M3, or M4 Mac to macOS Recovery Mode. - Note If your User has a password enabled you may have to enter the password several times during the following Steps 7, 8, 9, and 10.

7. Select the User you are using for Samsung Magician, you may have to unlock the User. Once you enter into your user, select Utilities from the menu at the top of your screen and then select Startup Security Utility from the available options.
8. When you see the startup disk, click on Security Policy - You may have to unlock it.
9. In Startup Security Utility, choose Reduced Security and check the option: Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers.

10. Click OK, enter the correct user password, and wait until the security level change completes.
11. Restart your Mac. - You can click on the Apple Logo located on the top Left and hit Shut Down and turn your Mac back on using the Power Button (Touch ID)
12. Once your Mac is back Online. You can install Samsung Magician or any other programs requiring macOS kernel extensions. Here is the link for Samsung Magician: https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/support/tools/
Once you installed Samsung Magician, you should receive this Message below or similar. - If you already installed the Samsung Magician, before this step, please reinstall before continuing.

13. When you see a System Extension Blocked pop-up. There could be an option to "Open Security Preferences" which directs you back to your Privacy & Security towards the Security section. If you inadvertently click the Ignore button to dismiss the pop-up, you can also find the Privacy & Security (Gatekeeper) settings in the Apple logo > System Preferences/System Settings.
14. Click the Allow button underneath System software from developer “Samsung Electronics” from loading.

15. If you have multiple system extensions to be enabled or updated, you will see the Details.. button instead, click it and switch on the system extensions you want to allow, and click OK
16. You will be asked to enter your admin password.
17. Restart your Mac to make the change take effect and then finish installation if needed.
